Some of the roles include welders, joiners, machine operators and fabricators, including positions at their Hull site, located in Ottringham on Patrington Road.

The Group has seen strong growth despite Covid and the trading challenges of Brexit, and is on course to deliver a £50m turnover for the year, having more than doubled over the last three years. Thurston’s continued operating safely throughout the pandemic, further enhancing its market leading solutions and providing support to the NHS through the manufacturing of Covid testing units, hospital extensions and vaccination centres.

Thurston’s expertise in the Healthcare, Education, Nuclear, Energy and Construction sectors, has resulted in a significant increase in orders and numerous job opportunities, which is why the Group is looking to add an additional 50 employees to its already strong 350 workforce, across all three Yorkshire-based sites.

Thurston Group has been operating for over 50 years, and over the last few years has seen huge developments across all three sites, including significant investment and service changes, with scope for future expansion.

All three sites make fabricated steel portable buildings; the Hull site also builds modular buildings while the Catfoss site manufactures heavy-duty specialist blast and fire-resistant buildings for the petrochemical sector.

Commenting on the recruitment drive, E3R Director Andrew Joseph commented: “We’ve had the pleasure of working with Thurston Group for the last eight years. Working in partnership you become an extension of a company’s HR team and are aware of the strengths and opportunities.

“Over this time Thurston has made numerous large-scale investments, not only enhancing the working environment for its employees, but strengthening its position in the market as a leader, making it a strong stable company to work for with prospects and job security.”

Gary Ware, Production Director at Thurston Group, commented: “We have stayed operational throughout the pandemic, and we have been quick to react in providing modular and portable buildings for a range of public spaces ranging from prisons, hospitals, schools, housing, COVID-19 testing centres and isolation hubs. Their usage across a range of sectors continues to increase due to their speed, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

“As a result of this, we are in a really strong position as a business as our orderbook continues to grow, and as a result we are increasing our production and need additional semi-skilled and skilled workers to strengthen our team. In return, we offer a great working environment for a strong stable company with big growth plans and prospects – it’s a really exciting time to join our business.”
