Hessle Theatre Company welcomes 62 talented children to join the cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Hessle Theatre Company is delighted to announce the successful casting of its children’s chorus for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, coming to Hull New Theatre from 10–14 March 2026.

Following an overwhelming response to auditions held on Saturday 27 September, more than 100 children from across East Yorkshire applied for the chance to take part in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s beloved musical. After a day filled with singing, dancing and smiles, 62 talented youngsters have now been selected to form two teams of 31, who will alternate performances alongside the previously announced adult cast.

Musical Director Rebecca Barques said:

“The standard at auditions was incredibly high. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm, energy and talent these young performers brought to the stage. Choosing only 62 was no easy task, but we now have two fantastic teams who are already brimming with excitement to start rehearsals. The children’s chorus adds such warmth and heart to the show, and I can’t wait to bring this magical show to life with them.”

The audition day also featured a special appearance by Ben Bailey, who stars as Joseph, unveiling the iconic Technicolor Dreamcoat and meeting the excited auditionees.

Martin Beaumont, director added:

“We’re very excited to welcome these incredible young performers into our company. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is such a joyful celebration of music and storytelling and having this talented children’s chorus join us makes it even more special.”

Rehearsals with the adult cast started at the beginning of September. The children will start rehearsals in the next couple of weeks. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat promises to be a dazzling, feel-good production for audiences of all ages when it arrives at Hull New Theatre next March.

Tickets are already on sale via the Hull New Theatre website.
