The exhibition focuses on the distinctive landscapes of Flamborough Head and Spurn Head. These headlands are treasures of the Yorkshire Coast.

This collection of digital images, especially created for Burton Constable’s Stables Gallery, provides atmospheric portraits of these very different Yorkshire coastline features.
This is the third in a series of exhibitions portraying aspects of the Yorkshire Coast held at Burton Constable Hall. Previous shows in 2023 and 2024 were very popular.
We are lucky to have these headlands in Yorkshire. Each is internationally important for their bird populations, though perhaps underestimated for their physical beauty. Flamborough is better known and being more accessible, more visited; Spurn is one of a kind in the UK and requires some effort to explore on foot.
There are 80 framed prints in this exhibition. The collection is composed of impressionistic images, created from photographs taken by Steve and modified to let the colours and shapes found in the original photos influence how the images are processed and printed.
In his treatment, Steve deliberately projects the emotion that this special environment triggers. The portraits examine the nature of our senses, what we see and feel, in the meeting places of sea, land and sky.
Steve was born in Sheffield, studied in Hull and lives in Hornsea. Some of his work is available to view online and on Instagram.
