The team at a Middleton on the Wolds poultry business is celebrating after winning an award for the sustainability of its chicken at the 21st annual Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards this week.

Soanes Poultry’s Higher Welfare Chicken won the Best Sustainable Product award, and its Grain Fed whole chicken was awarded Highly Commended in the Best Fresh Meat category in what is regarded as the largest food and drink awards programme in the region.
“We’re proud of our commitment to sustainable chicken rearing and to producing chicken that tastes great. We’re delighted to have received these accolades from a prestigious awards scheme which celebrates the best of Yorkshire’s food and drink producers,” said Soanes Poultry’s MD, Ben Lee.
Soanes Poultry beat Sloemotion Distillery, The Milk Well and York Cocoa Works to win the Sustainable Product Award. Lishman’s of Ilkey’s Heritage Breed T-Bone Steak won the Best Fresh Meat award.
Soanes Poultry is a family-owned business which has been rearing and preparing chicken since 1947. It sells chicken to butchers and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire and to wholesalers, catering butchers, ready meals manufacturers and restaurants nationwide.
