Burton Constable Hall is delighted to announce its festive reopening for Christmas 2025, welcoming visitors back into the historic house with a brand-new seasonal experience inspired by the magic of a Victorian Christmas Eve.

Opening on Saturday 22nd November 2025, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas transforms the Hall’s ground floor into an atmospheric journey set in the 1850s, inviting guests to step inside the world of the Constable family as the household prepares for Christmas Day.
Returning visitors will once again be able to enjoy Burton Constable Hall’s unique heritage setting, now brought to life with candlelit scenes, decorated rooms, and the bustle of Christmas preparations as the Constables finish celebrating with friends and the staff ready the house for the family’s midnight feast.
A specially created self-guided story booklet, narrated by the Hall’s Housekeeper, Mrs Styche, leads visitors from room to room, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Victorian traditions and the essential work of the people who made Christmas happen.
Curator Sarah Burton explains: “The Constable family’s Christmas Eve was shaped not only by their traditions but also by the hard work of the household staff who brought those traditions to life. As we reopen for the festive season, this experience allows visitors to see both sides of that story and to rediscover the Hall in an entirely new way.”
The reopening also includes festive activities for all ages. Children can take part in the ‘Robin Trail’, looking robins hidden in rooms throughout the Hall, while visitors seeking a quiet moment are welcome to pause in the Chapel and leave a message on the ‘Memory Tree’, a reflective space dedicated to remembering loved ones at this time of year.
Chief Executive Alasdair Hutson adds: “It’s great to have Burton Constable Hall open again for the Christmas season. With ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, we’ve used the Hall’s history as our inspiration to create something unique to our historic setting.”
The reopening marks the start of Burton Constable Hall’s full festive programme. With A Christmas Quartet and Cobwebs & Cream Teas at Christmas already sold out, visitors are encouraged to book soon for the remaining tickets for Breakfast and Afternoon Tea with Santa.
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas runs daily from 22nd November to 21st December 2025. Usual admission applies. Full details and opening times are available at www.burtonconstable.com.
