Doreen’s, a Hull-based charity, officially opens the doors to their new Hub in the city’s North Point Shopping Centre. ‘Delivering our Range of Everyday Essential Needs’, Doreen’s provides support to struggling families within the area, as well as vulnerable groups such as victims of domestic violence.

Located within the market, the charity officially opened its doors on Wednesday 21st January 2026 at 10am and is already gratefully accepting donations.
The Hub will be a place that will greatly benefit the community that surrounds it. It will include a shop, book swap service, a place for the charity to assemble and distribute care packages, and very soon, a school uniform pop-up stall. They have also created a bright, welcoming space for groups and members of the community to come and enjoy a warm drink, play games, and socialise. All the funds raised by the charity’s activities will be reinvested to further support and help grow the services it offers.
Doreen’s creates a wide range of care packages to support struggling families. From maternity and baby, to food packages for struggling families, and feminine hygiene products to support those facing period poverty. Throughout the year, the charity also provides seasonal care packages. In 2025 alone, they put together 155 gift bags, boxes, and hampers at Christmas and also donated 2,400 Easter eggs to local school children.
Centre Manager, Louise Smith, said: “Our centre is situated within a community facing economic pressures in the city, and combined with the cost-of-living crisis, many of our families need support. For us, hosting a charity like Doreen’s is so important to ensure that none of our families go without, and they all feel part of a community that truly cares.”
The charity appreciates any donations from the community, including cupboard food items, baby formula, board games, books, crafts, children’s and adult clothing, and preloved school uniforms. If you have any preloved items or food donations, make sure to pay a visit to Doreen’s to drop off your donations. You will be able to choose how your donation is distributed to support the local community.
