Ramsdens, the trusted financial services provider and retailer has opened a new store located at 25 King Edward Street, Hull.

Ramsdens, operating across four core services – foreign currency exchange, jewellery retail, pawnbroking and gold buying – all of which this new high street store will offer, officially opened its doors in the heart of Hull on Friday 23rd January, creating five new jobs for the local area. The opening marks the Company’s, third store in Hull, the 25th store in Yorkshire and the 171st Ramsdens store in the UK (excluding franchise).
The new store which is 1267 sq. ft in size encompasses a modern look and feel, with two large window displays showcasing top quality new and preowned jewellery on sale. Inside, the store consists of more jewellery displays alongside privacy counters designed with discretion in mind for customers utilising financial services.
Ramsdens offers competitive currency exchange rates for consumers jetting off on holiday, with a friendly shop team on hand to help and advice. Ramsdens prides itself in ensuring customers are well informed on the exchange rates it offers. These rates are prominently displayed [on the shop front and instore], and this transparent approach has already earned the store early praise from customers who have been impressed by the transparency Ramsdens provides for its foreign exchange customers.
“We’re here to serve the community and ensure they know the rates they’re getting for their money” said (Andy Gooder, Regional Manager at Ramsdens). “Our rates are always clearly advertised, no surprises, no hidden margins. Our customers deserve to make informed decisions, especially at a time when every penny counts.”
“Ramsdens on King Edward Street, is off to a great start and is performing very well across all our core services. We continue to grow our store footprint, bringing Ramsdens to more communities – not just as a business, but as a trusted retailer shoppers can rely on,” Andy added.
To reinforce its commitment to the local community, the store is collecting spare change, obsolete currency, and unspent foreign coins in aid of The Preston Road Women’s Centre, a charity based in Hull who offer a safe space for local women and their children and provide a range of services to help them rebuild their lives after crisis. The collection is part of the Ramsdens Loose Coin Scheme, where customers can contribute by donating coins in store, with funds being transferred to the charity on an annual basis.
As part of one of the Group’s environmental initiatives of planting a new tree for every new store opened, the new Hull store will also mean another tree will be added to the Ramsdens Trees Project, located near Doncaster.
Area Manager Mark Sterrett, at Ramsdens, commented: “We’re delighted to open our third store in Hull and to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming community. As well as creating new jobs in the area, we’re committed to making a positive impact and to help people – whether that’s by offering financial services that people can trust, offering great transparent rates on foreign currency, a fabulous range of quality jewellery and watches or supporting The Preston Road Women’s Centre, through our loose coin scheme.”
Ramsdens is open Monday to Saturday 9am05pm, Sundays 11am-4pm and can be located at 25 King Edward Street, Hull.
