Emmaus Hull & East Riding celebrates 10-year milestone

Local homelessness charity, Emmaus Hull & East Riding has celebrated ten years with a special event at its residential community in Hull.

On Wednesday 4th February, Emmaus residents, former residents, volunteers, trustees and staff were joined by partners for a birthday celebration event.

The Orchard, Emmaus Hull & East Riding’s purpose-built community building, provides 30 en-suite bedrooms and has been central to the charity’s work since opening in 2016. The event also highlighted the charity’s 10K for 10 Years appeal, which aims to raise £10,000 to help sustain and expand its services.

To mark the anniversary, Emmaus Hull & East Riding hosted a stakeholder lunch, bringing together key people involved in and supporting the charity’s work. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the charity’s journey over the past decade. This included celebrating impact and recognising the collective role of stakeholders in supporting people to rebuild their lives after homelessness.

Guests heard from staff and companions, enjoyed lunch together, and took part in fun challenges and conversations about the future of Emmaus Hull & East Riding.

Over the past decade, Emmaus Hull & East Riding has provided a safe home, tailored support, training, and life-changing opportunities to hundreds of people seeking a fresh start after homelessness.

A former companion at Emmaus spoke about the ten-year milestone, saying: “What a great place Emmaus is. Congratulations on your milestone of ten years in 2026 of helping people on their road to starting their new chapter. Here’s to the next ten years!”

During the last 10 years, the organisation has continued to grow, expanding its social enterprises, support services, and outreach programmes to meet increasing demand across the region. The anniversary appeal brought together supporters, partners, local businesses, and community members to help raise vital funds around the milestone celebration.

Stephanie Dixon, Chief Executive of Emmaus Hull & East Riding, said: “Celebrating our 10th anniversary with a stakeholder lunch reminded us that Emmaus Hull & East Riding is built on strong relationships.

Bringing people together to share experiences, reflect on our journey and look ahead to the future highlighted just how much can be achieved through collaboration.”

All funds raised through the appeal will go directly towards sustaining and developing services that provide a home and ongoing support to help people rebuild their lives after homelessness
