The Ship Inn Hull takes a stand against period poverty

The Ship Inn, located at 43 Hodgson Street, is proud to announce a new initiative to combat period poverty by providing free female sanitary products for all customers.

Recognising the growing need for accessible menstrual hygiene products, especially during challenging economic times, The Ship Inn is stepping up to support the local community. All female sanitary products will now be available, free of charge, in the venue’s restrooms to ensure that no one is left without basic hygiene essentials.

“We believe that no one should have to struggle to access something as fundamental as period products,” said Dean Kirk, owner of The Ship Inn. “This is about dignity, health, and doing our part to make our space welcoming and supportive for everyone.”

This move aligns with a growing nationwide effort to end period poverty and reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation. By making products available to anyone who needs them, no questions asked, The Ship Inn is fostering an inclusive and compassionate environment for its patrons.

The team invites other businesses in Hull to join them in this small but powerful step towards a more equitable society.
