Britpop icon Dave Rowntree to appear at Pocklington Arts Centre

For the first time ever, Dave Rowntree, best known as the drummer for Britpop legends Blur, is hitting the road to share the unheard stories behind the band’s formative years.

Music lovers can catch him live at Pocklington Arts Centre on Thursday 21st May, where he’ll be offering an intimate behind-the-scenes look at Blur’s journey to global success.

Drawing from his new book No One You Know, Rowntree will offer a rare glimpse into the moments that shaped the band, and the wider music industry. Sharing personal anecdotes and photos, he’ll explore the key moments that led to his rise to fame alongside bandmates Graham Coxon, Damon Albarn, and Alex James.

From early friendships in Colchester, to embarking on a world tour, and famously going head-to-head with Britpop rivals Oasis, Rowntree will reveal what it was really like to be part of one of the defining bands of the 1990s.

Venue manager Dave Parker commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Dave Rowntree to Pocklington Arts Centre. Blur helped define a generation, and this event offers a rare opportunity for fans to go behind the scenes and hear the stories behind the headlines”
