Local mental health charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind is inviting local people to come together this summer for the launch of the Mindful Makers Market – a brand-new event celebrating creativity, community connection and mental wellbeing.

Taking place on Saturday 22nd August from 11am-4pm at the Pier Street Pop Up Space, just off Humber Street, the event will showcase a range of local makers, artists, creatives and independent businesses from across Hull and East Yorkshire.
Visitors will be able to browse stalls featuring handmade crafts, jewellery, home décor, baked goods, wellbeing products, vinyl and more, while discovering the stories, passion and creativity behind the people who make them.
The event has been designed to encourage people to slow down, connect with others and experience the positive impact creativity and community can have on wellbeing.
Research continues to show that creativity, social connection and meaningful hobbies can all play an important role in supporting mental health and wellbeing. Activities such as crafting, creating, baking, art and music can help reduce stress, improve confidence, provide a sense of purpose and create opportunities for people to connect with others.
Hull and East Yorkshire Mind says the market is about more than just shopping local – it’s about creating a positive community space where people can connect with others, support independent businesses and discover products, hobbies and activities that support their wellbeing.
Lucy Joy Lines, Events Manager at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, said: “We know that wellbeing is about more than just accessing support when things become difficult. Creativity, community and connection all play a huge role in helping people feel happier, more confident and less isolated.
The Mindful Makers Market is about celebrating local people doing what they love – whether that’s crafting, baking, designing, creating or starting their own small business – and giving the community a chance to come together and support that.
Sometimes even something as simple as getting out of the house, speaking to new people, listening to music, browsing local stalls or discovering a new hobby can have a really positive impact on someone’s wellbeing.”
Hull and East Yorkshire Mind is also encouraging local makers, creatives and independent businesses to get involved by applying for a stall at the event.
The charity hopes the market will not only support local traders, but also inspire more people to explore creativity, hobbies and community activities that positively support their mental health.
