T2 invests £1.2m in people performance centre purpose-designed to set new standard for client experience

Leadership development consultancy T2 has completed a major transformation of its waterfront headquarters, turning a formerly rented office into a purpose-designed people performance centre.

The £1.2m investment to buy and revamp the building in Hull’s Fruit Market urban village reflects both the company’s decade of growth and its ambitions for the years ahead.

T2 acquired the building in 2025 and has now invested in a comprehensive makeover. The result is the T2 Performance Centre, a 6,000 sq ft three-storey facility designed to set a new standard for how leadership development is delivered and experienced.

It represents a major commitment by T2 to create exceptional facilities, enhancing the services and experience offered to clients and supporting leadership development, both within the Hull and Humber region and across the UK.

Martin Johnson, founder and CEO of T2, said: “The vision for this building has always been to create somewhere that immediately tells delegates that we mean business – because we do.

“Owning this building and now investing significantly in it to make it a perfect fit for our business marks another major milestone for T2. It gives us the platform to deliver an exceptional client experience, to grow our team, and to keep pushing the boundaries of leadership development.”

The building has been refurbished throughout, with the makeover delivered by Hull-based commercial interior design business RFD, working to T2’s vision for a centre where everything is designed to support exceptional performance.

The first floor houses the primary client-facing delivery spaces. There are two dedicated training rooms – one named after psychiatrist Steve Peters, author of the Chimp Paradox and a previous speaker at T2’s flagship Leadership Retreat Event, and the other after renowned Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist Carl Jung.

There is also a virtual delivery suite, a one-to-one coaching and meeting room, and a communal breakout area. All rooms are fitted with the latest Clevertouch interactive screens, with digital room-booking displays outside each space.

On the top floor, a larger training space can accommodate up to 30 delegates. It is named after Charles Darwin, the father of the theory of evolution by natural selection. It carries an inscription from a much-quoted Darwin statement: “It is not the strongest of species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most adaptable to change”.

This room opens onto a rooftop terrace with views across the Humber estuary and over to Hull’s stunning The Deep aquarium. T2 will use the terrace for outdoor team-building activities and breakout sessions during spring and summer programmes.

On the ground floor, a state-of-the-art, fully sound-proofed podcast studio has been installed, featuring acoustic boarding, professional lighting and multi-camera capability.

The studio is home to the T2 People Performance Podcast and is available for external hire, while the other rooms can also be hired for meetings, off-site team days, or other business uses.

Martin Johnson added: “We’ve invested heavily in making every space in this building work, both for our clients and for our team. The technology, the environment, and the detail all sends a signal about the quality of what we do.

“We also want this to be a genuinely great place to work. We’ve thought about the small things as much as the big ones – such as the library of psychology books, the roof terrace overlooking The Deep, and the greenery.”

The creation of the T2 Performance Centre comes as the consultancy launches its new, flexible People Performance Partnership designed to meet the specific and bespoke needs of clients. For organisations based in the region, the partnership also includes opportunities to use the centre  to connect, collaborate and be part of the T2 community.

The refurbishment follows T2 marking its 10th year in 2025. Founded by former Royal Navy serviceman Martin Johnson, the business has grown from a single consultant working out of a shared business centre into a team of 12, working with some of the world’s most recognisable organisations including Manchester United, the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team, and Specsavers.

Having previously operated from a single rented floor, T2 now has exclusive use of the entire building, with capacity to continue growing its team, having made three new hires in recent months, with Alex Mather and Rich McCarthy both joining as Senior Consultants and Ella Kerr as Marketing Assistant.

Making spaces across the centre also available for external hire opens up a new revenue stream for T2 and positions the facility as a broader hub for professional and leadership development.
