Professionals from across the city met recently for an event to explore key issues relating to substance misuse for children, young people and families.

The Children and Young People Substance Misuse Event took place at the University of Hull.
It brought partners together from across the city who provide targeted support to explore key issues relating to substance misuse for young people in Hull.
The event looked at how these key issues impact young people’s lives and how professionals can work together to address them.
It also explored how partners can work better together, develop their own role in identifying substance related issues, improve joint working across services and how they can better support young people.
Attendees came from a wide range of backgrounds including the police, education, health, the council’s Early Help teams, social workers and the voluntary and community sector.
Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children and Family Services at Hull City Council, said: “One of our key ambitions as a council is to make Hull a child-friendly city and ensure our young people have the opportunity to live healthy and happy lives.
“Events like these help the professionals that work with our young people ensure that they can continue to improve the excellent support they offer.
“Young people in Hull all deserve the opportunity to thrive and lead fulfilling lives, free of the hardships substance abuse can bring.”
