After a summer marked by extreme heat, drought and devastating wildfires, the need to take positive action has never been clearer. Schools can play their part by joining hundreds of schools around the world for JUST ONE Tree Day on Friday 16th October 2026.
Completely free for schools to take part in, JUST ONE Tree Day provides everything needed to run a fun and engaging day of climate education, including curriculum-linked teaching resources and activities.
Schools can choose a non-uniform or ‘wear something green’ day, inviting pupils to help plant trees through a £1 donation to JUST ONE Tree’s reforestation projects across Africa, Asia and South America. Every £1 raised plants one tree.
The annual event gives children and young people a simple, positive way to make a difference while learning about climate change, biodiversity and the importance of restoring our planet.
Since JUST ONE Tree Day launched in 2019, more than 250,000 children across 17 countries have taken part, collectively helping to plant over 475,000 trees and restore ecosystems around the world.
JUST ONE Tree founder Amanda Bronkhorst said: “Many children today are experiencing climate anxiety because they are seeing the reality of the climate crisis all around them. JUST ONE Tree Day gives children something positive they can do. It shows them that their individual actions matter and that, when we act together, we can create meaningful change.”
