When Taz Sheikh from Good Travel Management’s London team took her volunteering day earlier this year, it offered just a small glimpse into a much bigger commitment.

Taz has been volunteering since childhood as part of her Ismaili community, where giving back is a core value. Today, alongside her full-time role, she plays a leading part in the AKSWB Telephone Link – a community-based project that tackles loneliness and isolation by connecting volunteers with older and vulnerable people for regular wellbeing calls.
As a project board member, Taz oversees the growth and coordination of the initiative, supporting 150 volunteers who make regular calls to around 2,000 people. For many, these calls are more than just a chat – they’re a vital lifeline.
During COVID lockdowns the project grew rapidly. Taz commented “It highlighted that so many in and outside of our community were lonely and isolated. Some had mental health issues that our qualified members of the community were able to assist by advising aftercare.”
She used her volunteering day this year to support the project further, and in recognition of her long-standing service, she was recently invited to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. Taz described the experience as “fabulous”, saying: “I felt like a royal myself and have now framed the invite in the special garden picture.”
She was thrilled to meet HRH Prince William and HRH Princess Catherine in person, and even captured a video of the Princess.
The John Good Group and Matthew Good Foundation are proud to support colleagues like Taz, whose volunteering not only makes a tangible impact in their communities but also reflects the values at the heart of the business.
