Street by Street is a digital Artist Residency exploring connectivity and community in a time of social isolation.
Artlink Hull is inviting artists to submit their ideas for a digital residency to take place from May to July 2020. Street By Street offers the opportunity for one selected artist or artist collective to receive a fee of £2500* to develop a work which will be exhibited digitally at www.at87.co.uk. The artist or artist collective will also receive a digital studio where they can explore and develop ideas.
International artists are invited to respond to the open call by Friday, 17 April, after which time proposals will be reviewed by a panel of selectors.
Chris Twigg, Director, Artlink Hull said: “We’re really excited to launch Street By Street, Artlink’s first digital artist residency. Through this creatively challenging brief the artist will work with us to explore new ways to connect communities. This paid commission comes during a global moment of extreme difficulty where we are only just discovering what social isolation means, and at a time where so many artists have seen their employment and income fall away. The unifying powers of art and culture are needed now more than ever, and this opportunity demonstrates how galleries like Artlink are a vital hub and resource for communities.”
Artlink Hull is looking for applicants who can demonstrate a serious commitment to their practice, as well as a willingness to explore new and unique ways to investigate a remote neighbourhood. Artists and artist collectives who wish to apply are asked to visit www.at87.co.uk/street-by-street for the full artists brief. Please submit proposals by 5pm on Friday, 17 April.
