Research shows that the most successful businesses are those who have a purpose beyond profit.
Recent Queen’s Award for Enterprise winners, Sewell Group, will be joined by the ER Lieutenancy, Jim Dick for an hour of inspiring business chat as part of this year’s Humber Business Week.
The event – Purpose beyond profit: The real impact of doing the right thing – will explore how to align business strategies to creating a sense of purpose and what impact this could have on teams, customers and communities.
In a study entitled “The Business Case for Purpose”, a team from Harvard Business Review and EY’s Beacon Institute reported that “those companies able to harness the power of purpose to drive performance and profitability enjoy a distinct competitive advantage.”
They define a purpose as “an inspirational reason for being which inspires and provides a call to action for an organisation and its partners and stakeholders and provides benefit to local and global society”.
As a group, Sewell has spent over 10 years in the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For, two of which were in the top 10. Sewell Group has a reputation for investing in staff training and development every year to grow their own talent, and many of its senior leadership team started out as trainees, working their way up to the top of the company.
This event is aimed at businesses who want to understand more about the benefits of being driven by a positive purpose, not by a bottom line. The goal of all businesses is of course to make money, but those that have purpose beyond profit tend to do better. But what is yours? And why does it matter?
Join Sewell Group, Jim Dick and special guests on Tuesday 8 June 2021 to find out. Attendees can also find out more about the work of the ER Lieutenancy, and how others can join Sewell Group in flying the Queen’s flag.
The event will take place virtually as part of Humber Business Week on Tuesday 8 June 2021 from 9am to 10am. To book onto Purpose beyond Profit: The real impact of doing the right thing. How the Queen’s Award for Enterprise could elevate your business, visit Eventbrite.
