Choirs join Hull Philharmonic in spectacular operatic concert

A rousing concert of great operatic choruses launches the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2025-2026 season on Sunday 23rd November at 4pm.

It is joining forces with singers from the East Riding County Choir and Hull Choral Union for the special event which will see the Hull City Hall stage extended to accommodate more than 200 performers.

The spectacular concert will be conducted by the orchestra’s musical director Simon Chalk, who will bring together the full dramatic power of orchestra and massed voices.

The Hull Philharmonic’s chairman Peter Walker said: “We are delighted to welcome the Hull Choral Union and East Riding County Choir, who join us in what promises to be a showstopping afternoon of overtures and opera chorus favourites.”

Audiences can look forward to an exhilarating programme that includes Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, followed by the rousing brilliance of Bizet’s March of the Toreadors from Carmen and Tchaikovsky’s elegant Polonaise from Eugene Onegin.
