After two years on hold, the LGBTQ+ community has lots of celebrating to catch up on. Therefore, Pride in Hull has planned something extra special to celebrate 50 years of Pride in the UK and 21 years in Hull.
Initially planned to take place in West Park, the venue change was announced at the end of June following confirmation of fixtures for Hull City AFC. Pride in Hull will be held in the aptly named Queen’s Gardens. Below are all the key details you will need for Saturday’s party.
On Saturday 30 July, the festivities will start with a parade running from Hull College to Queen’s Gardens, between 10am and 12noon, followed by a day packed with music and celebrations.
All those entering the park will be searched in efforts to keep everyone safe, so please don’t bring alcohol, drugs or weapons. Only sealed bottles of water can be brought into the park.
For the Pride in Hull Parade, registration to collect wristbands will open at 9am and the parade will move off from Hull College at around 11am.
The parade route is different this year, from Wilberforce Drive outside Hull College to Lowgate, Alfred Gelder Street, Queen’s Dock Avenue, Vernon Street, Bond Street, George Street and back onto Wilberforce Drive, into Queen’s Gardens.

The parade has an important message and will focus on those countries where it is illegal to be LGBT+ and in the community tribes. The services represented in a ceremonial capacity include Humberside Police marching band and Humberside Fire and Rescue.
Pride in Hull set times
You can expect to see performers taking to the stage for the main Pride in Hull free festival.
Between 12pm and 2pm: All For One Choir, DJ Mike Tolan, Lloyd Daniels, Baby Drag, Abba, Samantha Atkin and David Danville Dance.
Between 2pm-3:50pm: The Pride flag will be rolled out across the crowd, followed by State of the Art, Cher Tribute, Queenz and Liberty X.
Between 3:50 and 5pm: Ru Paul’s Drag Race contestant, Ongina is one of the original nine contestants for the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race (also known as The Lost Season), as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race Allstars Season. Mel Blatt will be doing a DJ set to close the main event.
From 5pm: Those without a ticket will be asked to purchase one on the day or leave the park ready for the next event.
6pm onwards: Pride Party in the Park will start at 6pm. This is a ticketed event and wristbands will be checked. Revellers can purchase wristbands at the event, although organisers recommend buying prior to the event via www.tickettailor.com/events/prideinhull/686132
The lineup for Pride Party in the Park includes Queenz, Biphony, DJ Mike Nolan, Stooshe, Drag Race royalty, Trinity the Tuck, and Boyzlife will be followed up by DJ Mike Tolan.
Throughout the day the festival will include a family area, with international house sax player Dustin Kitsch and Jeddy Bear and Gary.
The Tent of Imagination will showcase music from Callum Chater, Ellie Pollard, Jodie Langford and Scott. Dance with the amazing Tamar & Jo. Spoken word from Michelle Dee and Emily Oetegenn. Hull Roundheads’ Play followed by confessional open mic which is open to all.
The Uncensored Stage is for over 18s only from 1pm to 3:30pm.
You will see burlesque, chair acrobatics, singing and drag queens, a consent workshop with Matt Skully and a ropeplay workshop.
Concluding at 9:30pm, after parties are set to run across the city.

“Adding another event to celebrate 21 years of Pride in Hull is something new for 2022. The response has been overwhelming and although it felt like a risk initially, I am pleased to say that the support has been incredible.
“As a team, we make Pride in Hull happen because we feel strongly about the importance of celebrating Pride, we all love it and have each seen first-hand the positive impact it has on individuals and the community as a whole.
“As we’ve had a two year gap, this year’s event will be the first Pride for many local people. We are thrilled to hear via our social media that they will be joined by family, friends and allies, as the positive message of acceptance is being shouted louder than ever before.
“This year Pride in Hull will be bigger and better than ever. Our small team of volunteers have worked hard to bring something special, and we can’t wait to see the reaction on Saturday.
