Exchange 62 offers a new opportunity for disabled artists based in or near Hull to take part in a transpennine exchange programme across 2019-20.

Exchange 62 is an exciting new partnership between Artlink Hull, Pyramid Leeds, and Venture Arts Manchester, that aims to increase opportunities for disabled artists in the North of England. A disabled artist from each of these areas will lead a creative exchange project that will take place across the three cities.

Funded through the Co-Creating Change Network, we envisage that the artists selected will work together to use visual arts practice to make a difference to the lives of disabled people in the North of England.

Beginning in November 2019, the selected artists will be free to interpret, build and lead their own exchange projects, collaborating closely with one another in an exchange of ideas and practice, then bring their combined experience and work together in July 2020.

How the exchange manifests itself in each city will be led by the artists. The only parameter being it must be collaborative work with the goal of longer-term social change. The artists on the exchange will be selected by a panel of disabled artists.

Amanda Sutton, Director of Venture Arts says: “We are so excited to be a part of this brilliant project which will see disabled artists taking the lead in building a network which will be force for change in the North”. While Creative Director of Artlink Hull,Kenn Taylor, says: “We’re really looking forward to working with our partners on this initiative to create new, vital opportunities for disabled artists in the North ofEngland.”

The selected artist from each area will receive a fee of £2,100, as well as additional financial support for accommodation, travel and access support. Further funds are also available to use as a budget for planned activities during each exchange.
