Extraordinary comedy duo head to Hull

Hull Theatres has today announced two extraordinary shows will be heading to its venues, Hull City Hall and Hull New Theatre in the coming months.

This December, Hull-born Reece Shearsmith and comedy partner Steve Pemberton offer a rare insight behind the doors of their BAFTA award-winning anthology in An Evening Inside No.9 at Hull City Hall on Tuesday 14 December 2021.

They will share behind-the-scenes stories and shocking secrets from some of their most memorable episodes. There may be singing. And dancing. And as the Gents respond to fan questions, every night will be completely unique!

Steve and Reece, said: “We have been talked into leaving our houses and touring the country to see you all in person. It’s been a while since we went anywhere other than in front of the fridge, so we are looking forward to it. We’ll try and answer any questions you may have, including ‘Why are some of my shirt buttons cracked directly in half?’ So it promises to be a night to remember. If we can make this effort, so can you. We look forward to welcoming you ‘Inside No.9’. Or do we? (That’s the twist at the end).”

And while we’re on the subject of comedy, Mischief returns to Hull New Theatre next spring, Mischief Theatre that is, the team behind the critically acclaimed The Play That Goes Wrong, with their biggest catastrophe to date Magic Goes Wrong, created with magic legends, Penn & Teller.

Following the story of a hapless gang of magicians who are staging an evening of grand illusion to raise cash for charity when the magic turns to mayhem, accidents spiral out of control and so does their fundraising target! Mischief’s Magic Goes Wrong really raises the bar on their dare-devil stunts, jaw-dropping feats and irresistible comedy genius.

Magic Goes Wrong appears at Hull New Theatre from 8-12 March 2022.

Tickets for An Evening Inside No.9 and Magic Goes Wrong are on sale now via Hull Theatres website at www.hulltheatres.co.uk
