Foundations Live 2025 builds record numbers

One of the largest free construction trade and careers event in Yorkshire, Foundations Live 2025, returned to Bishop Burton College last month – and it marked the biggest and most successful event in its history.

More than 80 exhibitors from across the construction supply chain attended, surpassing all previous years, and organisers welcomed over 1,000 industry professionals, apprentices, students and jobseekers. New exhibitors for 2025 included Salt Architects and FloPlast, joining many long-standing supporters from across the construction sector.

Dave Blades, SHEQ director at Hull construction firm Hobson & Porter, the company behind Foundations Live, said: “Every year this event grows in scale and impact, and 2025 has been a record year. We are proud to provide a platform where businesses can showcase innovation, make valuable connections and highlight the incredible career opportunities available in construction to hundreds of young learners.

“Foundations Live brings together the industry’s broadest mix of people and organisations under one roof, combining a vibrant skills, education and careers show with a professional networking and trade exhibition. Major contractors, consultants and suppliers exhibited alongside school pupils, college students, training providers and industry support organisations.

“Attendees experienced live equipment demonstrations, interactive displays, expert advice on apprenticeships and training, and a free networking lunch and the event has helped to inspire the next generation and support skills development.”

Special guests included television personality and respected construction ambassador Mark Millar, who shared his insights and experience throughout the day. Foundations Live also proudly supports the work of The Lighthouse Charity, the construction industry’s dedicated charity, and provides guidance from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) on apprenticeships, grants and career pathways.

Since its launch in 2016, Foundations Live has welcomed thousands of students and visitors to Bishop Burton College’s equine arena. It has firmly established itself as the North of England’s leading construction trade and careers show, attracting strong support from across the sector. The 2025 event was supported by Bishop Burton College, CITB, and MKM, with planning for Foundations Live 2026 already underway.
