Foxglove Supported Living lights a Lantern of Love with Dove House Hospice

Foxglove Supported Living was honoured to support A Garden Lit with Love, a moving and meaningful event held in aid of Dove House Hospice, celebrating remembrance, compassion and community while raising vital funds for the hospice’s ongoing work.

The event saw Dove House’s gardens illuminated with lanterns, each one symbolising love, and gratitude. Foxglove Supported Living proudly sponsored a lantern, joining many others in helping to shine a light on the extraordinary care and support provided by the hospice.

Johanna Leigh-Thompson, Director at Foxglove Supported Living, which supports adults with learning disabilities to live independently, spoke about what the hospice means to her personally:

“We did not hesitate when asked to sponsor a lantern, and the switch-on was truly special. After my father-in-law spent the last days of his life at Dove House, I experienced first-hand the compassion, dignity and care this place provides. Dove House doesn’t just support the people staying there, but their families too. For me, sponsoring a lantern was a small way of giving back to a place that gave us so much during a very difficult time.”

Dove House Hospice provides specialist care to patients and families across the region, offering comfort, dignity and support when it is needed most. Events such as A Garden Lit with Love play a vital role in helping the hospice continue its incredible work within the community.

Jonny Bottomley, Partnership Development Fundraiser and the person instrumental in organising the Garden Lit with love, said he was immensely grateful:

“Your support has helped turn this initiative into something truly meaningful for the patients and families who will spend Christmas with us. The lights will bring warmth, comfort and a sense of togetherness at a time when moments matter the most.”

Dove House Hospice has been caring for people in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire for almost 40 years. Patients and families are at the heart of everything they do, whether it be caring for the people at the end of their lives, providing therapies to help people with life limiting illness or giving much needed bereavement support to grieving families.

Foxglove Supported Living is proud to support Dove House Hospice and remains committed to giving back to organisations that make a profound difference to the lives of individuals and families.
