Good Travel Management brings Christmas magic to Hull through new partnership with Middle Child

Good Travel Management has announced a new community partnership with Hull-based theatre company Middle Child, supporting their upcoming Christmas production of The Wizard of Oz.

The partnership funds a British Sign Language interpreter for selected performances and provides free tickets that will be distributed to disadvantaged families across the city through both Middle Child and through the Matthew Good Foundation, part of the John Good Group.

Middle Child is a not-for-profit organisation known for creating high-energy productions and delivering long-term social impact across Hull. Their Christmas shows have become a major cultural event in the city, attracting families and young people who often struggle to access live theatre.

This year’s support from Good Travel Management removes key barriers to participation. The sponsorship ensures that deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences can enjoy the performance through BSL interpretation. It also expands access for families who face financial hardship.

Senior Producer Sarah Penney highlighted the value of the partnership: “Middle Child’s partnership with Good Travel Management is more than sponsorship. It is about community. Thanks to their support we are able to share our panto with more families across Hull, bringing a little extra magic to those who need it most. It is a brilliant example of what happens when local organisations come together to make a difference. We are thrilled to be creating shared moments of connection that really capture the spirit of Christmas in Hull.”

Kevin Harrison, Director of Good Travel Management said the decision aligns with the company’s long-standing commitment to community involvement and accessibility: “Supporting Middle Child allows us to invest directly in our local area and ensure the arts remain open to everyone. Christmas is a time for generosity and connection. Helping families enjoy a truly special experience is something we are proud to support.”

The Wizard of Oz runs throughout December at social venue Social on Humber Street. More information is available at middlechildtheatre.co.uk.
