Hessle Theatre Company launches search for children’s chorus for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Hull New Theatre

Hessle Theatre Company is calling on young performers from across East Yorkshire to join the cast of its next spectacular musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, at Hull New Theatre 10–14 March 2026.

Following the announcement of the adult cast, the company is now looking to recruit two teams of 30 children, aged 6–11, to form the show’s children’s chorus – an essential and much-loved part of this family favourite.

Auditions will take place on Saturday 27 September 2025 at Hull New Theatre, and young hopefuls must register in advance by completing an audition form via the Hessle Theatre Company website.

On the day, there’s a chance to meet Ben Bailey, who plays the lead role of Joseph, and as a special treat Ben will unveil the iconic Technicolor Dreamcoat and pose for photos with auditionees and their families.

Director of this colourful Hessle Theatre Company production, Martin Beaumont said: “We’re thrilled to be staging one of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s best-loved musicals and to offer a fantastic opportunity for local children to share the stage with us. Hull audiences are in for a real treat next March as it promises to be a dazzling, feel-good show for the whole family.”

Hessle Theatre Company has brought high-quality musicals to Hull since 1922, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat marks another milestone in more than century of theatre for Hull audiences.
