HoH Food Hall: Hang Out Artisan Bakery

One of the latest traders to open inside the stylish HoH Food Hall is Hang Out Artisan Bakery, which presents freshly baked goods to eat inside the food hall or take home to enjoy. We spoke to owner Ana Dumitru to find out more.

Fans of Hull’s indie scene will no doubt be familiar with the Hang Out brand, as Ana and her husband Andrei ran a bar on Newland Avenue for a number of years and currently have bakehouses opposite the Streetlife Museum and on Hartoft Road in the HU5 area. Their latest offering is Hang Out Artisan Bakery, which opens next to the barista stand in HoH Food Hall this Friday (11 March).

“Hang Out Artisan Bakery is a fusion of the two locations we have already, yet it has a unique look and feel that complements the food hall,” said Ana. “We use only the best quality ingredients and bake everything from scratch, so we’re sure our customers will love it.”

Ana told us that Hang Out Artisan Bakery will be selling freshly baked bread, which is made using a special recipe: “It’s been in my family for six decades, handed down by my grandma who was a chef and baker for forty years. You won’t find it anywhere else.”

As well as mouth-watering bread, the bakehouse will also sell its famous brownies, blondies, cakes and many more sweet and savoury treats. Meanwhile, their sandwiches are expertly made and packed with delicious fillings, making them the perfect way to refuel during a busy day.

“I’ve been in close contact with Jack Hanman and Mike White regarding being involved for a few months now,” said Ana. “With so many great people already in the food hall, we felt we needed to be there and we can’t wait to welcome the public to our new bakery.”

Ana describes the bakery as a fresh, new version of what they have built up over the last few years. With its own personality, lots of colour and a cheery atmosphere, Hang Out Artisan Bakery is “all about the bakes” and ready to become a popular stop for visitors to our city and resident Hullensians alike.

Once it launches on Friday, Hang Out Artisan Bakery will be open from 11am to 6pm seven days a week. When entering the food hall using the main doors opposite Paragon Interchange, simply walk toward the centre of the space and you’ll find the bakery on the right-hand side opposite the high-end barista coffee machines.

Make sure to visit them during the opening weekend, as they’ll be giving away 100 of their scrumptious NYC cookies to celebrate the new adventure.
