Inviting Applications to the 2019 Amy Johnson Arts and Engineering Awards

The Amy Johnson moths formed a popular trail across the city in 2016.

Rick Welton, Director Amy Johnson Arts Trust, writes:

I’m sure you will remember our very successful Moth for Amy Auction held back in 2017. Half the proceeds of the sale of the Moths was donated to charity with the other half being reserved to fund new Arts & Engineering Awards in Amy’s name.

We are delighted to announce that the first round of awards, the 2019 Amy Johnson Arts & Engineering Awards, is now open for applications.

Each year, for the next four years, we will make two Awards of up to £4000 each. These Awards are particularly targeted at women engineers and artists with the aim of encouraging the participation of women in these fields.

Each year will have its own engineering ‘theme’. The theme for 2019 is computer and digital science and engineering, including such areas as robotics and artificial intelligence.

The awards are open to people living and working in Hull and East Yorkshire.
