Little Explorers: Wildlife Week – A half term adventure for families at Burton Constable

Burton Constable Hall & Parkland is delighted to present Little Explorers: Wildlife Week, a fun-filled half-term experience designed to inspire curiosity and celebrate the natural world.

Running from Monday 16th to Friday 20th February 2026, this family-friendly event invites children and adults alike to enjoy hands-on activities, outdoor discovery, craft workshops, and wildlife education across the beautiful parkland and grounds.

From 11:00am to 3:00pm each day, visitors can take part in an engaging programme of nature-inspired activities suitable for all ages. Highlights include creative craft stations, where little explorers can plant seeds and vegetables, create fun cress heads, and build ice-cream cone bird feeders, plus the chance to paint and assemble a take-home bird box (available on a first-come, first-served basis for an additional £3).

A special feature of the week is a live beekeeping demonstration by Beverley Beekeepers, offering a fascinating introduction to these vital pollinators. With an insect-free hive display and the opportunity for children to try on mini beekeeping suits, the session promises an educational and memorable experience.

Exploration continues outdoors with a parkland wildlife trail, the perfect opportunity to stretch legs and discover the birds, insects and other species that call Burton Constable home. Visitors may also see members of the Rural Task Force with vehicles and equipment, subject to operational availability.

Alasdair Hutson, Chief Executive of the Burton Constable Foundation, said: “Wildlife Week gives families a simple way to spend time outdoors during half term. With hands-on activities and our Wildlife Watch Posts set up around the parkland, there are plenty of opportunities to spot and learn about local wildlife.”

After a day of discovery, guests are invited to relax and recharge at the Stables Kitchen, serving a delicious range of homemade food and refreshments.
