Local businesses raise over £2,500 after conquering Yorkshire Three Peaks for Run With It Charity

A determined group of Humber business and charity leaders have raised over £2500 for educational charity Run With It, by completing the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge despite facing some of the worst weather imaginable.

A brief respite from the rain between summits – the team at the Ribblehead Viaduct during the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.

Battling relentless rain, fierce winds and even hailstorms, the team powered through the 24-mile trek across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, climbing more than 1,500 metres in total.  The challenge, already known for testing both physical strength and mental resilience, was made even tougher by the conditions.

Run With It charity co-ordinator Steph Sewell joined Natalie Jones and Julia Prihhodko from Three Oceans, Tracey Frankish-Creed from Humberside Airport and her husband, renowned playwright and theatre director Rupert Creed, along with Gareth Rooney from MRN Print, PR consultant and coach Fiona Dwyer and Francesca Yaxley, an NHS worker at Grimsby Hospital.  Together they raised a total of £2598.

Lisa Dawson, Director of Run With It, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to all those who took on this incredible challenge – and carried on despite the awful weather conditions.  Their determination, resilience and generosity will help us continue delivering life-changing programmes that build confidence, skills and aspirations in young people across our region.  Every single step they took represents another opportunity for a learner to thrive – and that really does mean the world to us.”

PR Coach Fiona Dwyer added:

“The guide said the weather was ‘punishing,’ the likes of which he hadn’t seen since his military days!  It just shows what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.  The last mile might have felt like ten, but it was brilliant to take part alongside such a wonderful group of people.  Huge thanks to everyone who supported and donated to Run With It.  Knowing what the charity does for young people kept us all going.”

Julia Prihhodko, Commercial Manager at Three Oceans, said:

“Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge wasn’t just about reaching summits, it was about pushing our limits for a cause that truly matters – and turning every step into support for those who need it most!”

Tracey Frankish-Creed, from Humberside Airport, who also took part, said:

“The Run With It challenge was tough, but doing it with such lovely people made all the difference.  We kept spirits high, tackled every challenge as a team and I’m proud of what we achieved on the day.  A big thank you to all our sponsors.  The money raised will help inspire and empower local children to reach their potential.”
