She Productions, East Riding Theatre’s resident company, are hosting a relaxed performance of Joanna Murray-Smith’s Bombshells especially for parents/guardians and their babies to attend.
This one-woman play about 6 characters on the verge of crisis, will be performed by local actress Alice Rose Palmer between 23rd January and 1st February at East Riding Theatre. During the run, a special morning show will be performed on Wednesday 29th January especially for parents/ guardians and their babies.
This particular show will use softer volume and ever-so slightly brighter lighting to create a peaceful space for parents/guardians and their babies to sit back, relax and enjoy the show without the worry of disturbing other guests. Audience members will be free to stand in the aisles, make use of the theatre’s baby change facilities, breastfeed and gurgle and squirm to their hearts’ content.
Company member Annie Kirkman says: “It is part of our mission as a theatre company to welcome as many walks of life into our shows as possible. This hilarious one-woman play includes the character of a mother with a newborn, so it only felt right to offer a way that new parents/guardians can still come and enjoy theatre that represents them without having to find childcare.”

She Productions, a company driven by the female voice, is thrilled to be staging Bombshells, which will also be the first established play they have produced as opposed to their usual exploration of new writing. Becky Hope-Palmer, Associate Director of the company, who directed their 1960s musical It’s Different for Girls says:
“I’m delighted to be returning to ERT to direct Bombshells. I loved this play the first time I read it and it speaks to anyone who has been on the verge of experiencing a life changing moment. With the support of She Productions, this story about six vastly different women is the perfect collaboration to return to the ERT stage. It also gives me the chance to work with the brilliant Alice Palmer again, which promises to be an unforgettable performance. It’s a funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking play that we hope to give new life and identity to brighten up the dark days of January.”
Bombshells by Joanna Murray-Smith runs 23rd Jan-1st Feb 2020, 7.30pm. Matinee on Sat 25th Jan, 2.30pm. Parent & Baby show on Wed 29th Jan, 11.30am.
