Local hospice engages in recycling initiative to help raise awareness and funds

The Christmas Tree Recycling appeal returns in aid of local charity, Dove House Hospice.

Partnering with national organisation Just Helping, the initiative aims to engage with residents and allow them to dispose of their Christmas trees in an eco-friendly manner. On Thursday 8th and Friday 9th of January 2026, people in the HU5, HU7, HU8, HU12 and HU17 postcode areas can register to have their tree collected in return for a donation to the hospice.

Tiff Brodie, Community Fundraiser at Dove House Hospice, explained: “Residents can simply leave their real Christmas trees at the top of their drive or in their front garden and our team of amazing corporate volunteers will collect it directly and recycle it sustainably. Support of this kind from the local community is greatly valued by all at the hospice and essential to help Dove House Hospice continue to provide the vital care for many people in Hull and East Yorkshire”.
