More early and Sunday buses into Hull from September

More early and Sunday buses into Hull from East Yorkshire from September.

From Sunday 1 September 2019 local bus company East Yorkshire will be running more early morning services, improving services for shift-workers and commuters, and giving better connections for train services to Leeds, Sheffield and London from Hull Paragon Interchange.

Passengers living in Willerby, Longhill, Hessle, Cottingham, The Avenues and Beverley will all benefit from extra weekday journeys each morning, as well as those living in the Willerby Road, Holderness Road and Beverley Road areas.  Staff at Hull Royal Infirmary will also benefit from earlier buses to the hospital.

In addition, there will be an increase in buses during the day on Sundays, creating more opportunities for people to get into Hull for events, shopping and leisure.  The Willerby and Willerby Road areas, and Hessle, Hessle Road and Anlaby Road areas will all benefit.

Commenting on the improvements, Ben Gilligan, Area Director for East Yorkshire, said: “We’re delighted to be able to add additional services to our already extensive network to give local people more opportunities to travel.

“This is just the starting point for running buses earlier and more frequently, and we’ll be using it to gauge interest with a view of hopefully adding buses from other areas in future.”

The changes are part of an ongoing commitment by East Yorkshire of improving bus services, which includes a £6m investment in new buses announced in June.

Further changes will also be made in September to services in Hull and the East Riding as a result of passenger demand and to improve reliability.  Areas which will have new bus times include Cottingham, The Avenues & University areas, Willerby, Hessle and Beverley.

East Yorkshire, in partnership with Hessle Town Council, will now also run a bus on Fridays linking Hessle to Sainsburys, and there will be an increase in buses between Goole and Rawcliffe Bridge, funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Details of all the changes and new timetables can be found on the East Yorkshire website at www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk
