A young woman at the helm of a growing specialist homecare business is believed to be the youngest Care Quality Commission (CQC) Registered Manager in the country.

Caitlin Sacre is thought to be the youngest Care Quality Commission (CQC) Registered Manager in the country

Caitlin Sacre was recently appointed to the role at the age of 22 having completed all necessary qualifications and requirements for the position at My Caring Limited.

With its head office in west Hull, My Caring’s complex care assistants, care assistants and support workers provide home care and complex care services across Hull, the East Riding and North Yorkshire every week.

The specialist homecare agency provides care, case management support and advice to children and adults who have sustained complex, life-changing injuries, including brain or spinal injury, cerebral palsy, autism and learning disabilities.

The team offers personal care and support to service users in their homes and helps to coordinate their needs with a multidisciplinary health and social care team.

Registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England – the company also works in partnership with local authorities.

It took four months to get through the registration process and Caitlin has completed her NVQs in Adult Care, she is working towards a Level 5 NVQ in Leadership and Management and has been declared as a “fit person” for the Registered Manager position by a CQC inspector.

She had to demonstrate exceptional knowledge of legislation within the care sector and how to tackle various situations which could arise, particularly relating to learning disabilities, one of My Caring’s specialisms.

Caitlin said: “I feel honoured and proud to have qualified as the youngest Registered Manager in the country and manage such a brilliant, dedicated team.

“I’m committed to ensuring every service user in the community receives the highest quality care that they need and deserve.

“I put a lot of hard work into reaching this position and I’m really looking forward to the future, growing the business and doing the best job possible.

“Our service users are at the heart of what we do and we approach everything with our #feelthelove ethos, which underpins everything we do, alongside our sister company Care Connection Partners.”

My Caring operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, and the business continues to grow, as requests for care can be received from anywhere across the country.

The team care for people of all ages, with the youngest service user aged three and the oldest age 83.

Complex care includes providing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) level nursing care to those who need it most within their own homes, including respiratory management.

Service users can also receive support with domiciliary care, including washing, dressing, social visits, help with meals or medication, and companionship.

All staff are clinically trained by the highly qualified My Caring team, which also includes Clinical Lead Amanda Lambert, who is a Registered Nurse and trained to Matron level at NHS Band Eight.

Training includes everything from use of medical devices and equipment to catheterisation, and all staff have to be deemed competent before they begin their roles.

Caitlin said: “We have very high standards and we want that to be reflected in everything we do.

“My Caring is governance-led, and we’re absolutely driven to ensure we go above and beyond to get things right.”
