Neurodiverse charity, Aim Higher, receives £1,500 donation from housebuilder

Aim Higher, a charity based in Hull, has received a £1,500 donation from local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, which has its Hawk View development in the area. The donation will go towards supporting the charity’s free children and parents group for 0 – 5 years.

Aim Higher is a charity that empowers neurodiverse children, young people and their families across Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire. Through providing mental health and education support, with a particular focus on autism, the charity works to create an inclusive and supporting community. This is achieved through support groups, fundraising events, community engagement and much more.

The £1,500 donation will contribute towards one of these many inclusive groups, specifically for its Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) group, designed for children aged 0 – 5 years. Taking place every Wednesday during term time at Haltemprice Leisure Centre, the group offer much-needed support and community to those who use the services.

The donation was made in alignment with Barratt Developments Community Fund, an initiative committed to supporting communities in the areas where the housebuilder has a development under construction.

Gill Jagger, Founder of Aim Higher, commented: “We would like to express our thanks to the team at David Wilson Homes’ Hawk View development, for considering us to receive one of the monthly Community Fund donations. Creating an inclusive community is a huge part of our mission here at Aim Higher, and this donation will allow us to continue just doing that for our regular 0 – 5 years SEND group every Wednesday.”

Leonna Hardcastle, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes’ Hawk View development, added: “We strongly advocate supporting the communities in which we build, and it felt only natural to support the wonderful work that Aim Higher brings to the local community. The groups that it facilitates offer crucial support to those that need it most, and we’re proud to be supporting its 0 – 5 years SEND group.”
