New shows on sale at Hull Theatres

Opulent operatics, beautiful ballet, and cracking comedy are all on the way to Hull Theatres.

The world-renowned Opera North returns to Hull City Hall not once but twice in the months ahead, firstly with the traditional New Year celebration Viennese Whirl, which will whisk audiences down the Danube with a magical selection of waltzes, polkas and galops on 31 December. While in the spring the company take on the most famous of Biset’s operas with a new concert staging of The Pearl Fishers on 24 June 2023.

Over at Hull New Theatre, the venue hosts the UK debut of Varna International Ballet with an enchanting repertoire that features some of the artform’s most beloved works from 17 to 21 January 2023.

The amazing programme includes the beautiful ballets Coppelia on Tuesday 17, Giselle on Wednesday 18, Swan Lake on Thursday and Friday, with a grand finale of two performances of The Nutcracker on Saturday 21 January.

Moving back to Hull City Hall, the entertainment turns from ballet to belly laughs, as Sophie Duker – star of the Channel 4 show Taskmaster – presents her new stand-up show – Hag on 29 March 2023.
