Two of Yorkshire’s biggest bus operators are today announcing a new partnership to offer smooth and easy travel from East Yorkshire to Leeds and York, and on York City Sightseeing services.
Local bus company East Yorkshire is teaming up with Transdev-owned Coastliner to make it easier for customers to use the bus directly from their nearest stop to travel to some of Yorkshire’s biggest cities, with great value tickets which can be used for through travel across both companies.
Passengers travelling from Market Weighton, Pocklington, Beverley or Hull to York can buy tickets on board East Yorkshire buses for onward travel to Leeds with Cityzap or Coastliner services. This is on Services 18, 45/46, X46/X47 and 747.
In addition, passengers travelling to York from across the East Yorkshire network can buy day tickets for use on York City Sightseeing buses.
Passengers travelling to Scarborough on East Yorkshire’s Coaster buses from Bridlington, Filey and the holiday villages, or Service 128 from Helmsley, can also buy tickets on board for onward travel to Malton, York and Leeds on Coastliner services.
East Yorkshire Area Director Ben Gilligan said: “This partnership with Coastliner will offer our passengers simple, easy to use tickets for travel to new destinations, while being great value for money.
“The new through tickets mean passengers will be able to enjoy visits to discover all Leeds and York have to offer, or take in a sightseeing tour of York for a fantastic family day out, without having to buy additional tickets along the way.
“This is all part of our ongoing commitment of providing improvements for our passengers, with investments being in buses, branding and more reliable services.”
The new through tickets will be available from Friday 3 May. Fares for return travel to Leeds from York are £8 adults, or from Scarborough to York or Leeds are £13.50 adults. York City Sightseeing tickets sold on services to York are £12.50 adults, £6.50 children or £28 for a family. Tickets can be bought on the bus with cash or contactless (up to a value of £30).
CEO at Transdev Alex Hornby said: “Our passion for making bus travel a simple and hassle-free choice for travel is shared with East Yorkshire, and today’s announcement is another step we are taking to make that the case.
“Tickets will also be sold on Cityzap and Coastliner services, enabling journeys to be made to York, Pocklington, Market Weighton and Hull, as well as travel on Scarborough Locals and Beachcomber open top buses.”
Full details of all Coastliner and Cityzap services are available online at yorkbus.co.uk or on the Transdev Go smartphone app. East Yorkshire and Scarborough Locals bus times are on its website at: eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk and on the East Yorkshire Buses app, while printed timetables for both operators’ services are also available from the East Yorkshire Travel Centre at Scarborough Railway Station.
