New training and activity hub in Bransholme opened for adults with a learning disability

Foxglove in Hull, which supports adults with learning disabilities to live independently, has opened a new activity and training hub called Foxglove Bespoke Care and Support.

Founder and Managing Director of Foxglove, Johanna Leigh-Thompson, said:

“We always knew there was a need for somewhere that the people we support could come and have a voice, meet in a safe space and socialise with others. It will also serve as the perfect location to train our growing team as well as the individuals that live in Foxglove homes, giving them a sense of inclusion, achievement and self-worth.”

Since its opening, the hub has already been used for all sorts of different activities, safe space chats, training and meetings for the “Voices of Foxglove,” a select group that represents the people that live in our homes.

Positive Behaviour Support Specialist and Trainer, Anne-Marie Bone, who has been instrumental in putting the project together, said:

“Everyone we support who has come along to the sessions has absolutely loved them. They’ve been doing arts and crafts, meeting up for chats, drinking tea and eating cakes.”

One individual described the new activity Hub as “a truly amazing new centre where lots of love has gone into making it.”

Foxglove continues to strive to empower every individual to live life their way.
