Live music in Hull is back with a bang as tickets for an all-day Indie gig in Hull go on sale.

The Rills

Headlined by 90s Britpop icons NORTHERN UPROAR, the bill also features the hottest new indie bands and performers from around the UK.

Taking place at the established live music venue O’Rileys in the heart of the city, the event features eleven live performers, including three of the current hottest bands in the UK – The Voyd, The Rills and The Sheratons.

Solo performers include the hotly tipped Indoor Foxes and the talented Jess Kemp, whose livestream performances have been a huge hit over lockdown.

HAWKE THE BAND are an indie pop band who combine their anthemic rock influences with contemporary sounds. Lead singers Richard Power and Eoghan MacMahon offer a hopeful flavour of indie pop. 

NORTHERN UPROAR: With five studio albums under their belts, the band made their mark in the heyday of Britpop – with performances on Top of the Pops and releasing a string of hit singles including ‘Any Way You Look’, ‘Town’ and ‘A Girl I Once Knew’. Northern Uproar make a rare, live performance in Hull.

THE VOYD: Widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects on the UK indie scene, Sunderland band The Voyd have released a string of energetic singles, with tens of thousands of Spotify listeners. Hear their fast-paced, melodic indie anthems live. 

THE RILLS: Seeing a meteoric rise through TikTok and the release of their singles ‘The Angler’ and ‘Stardog’ over lockdown, The Rills have emerged as a stand-out artist, hotly tipped for great things in 2021 and beyond. Championed by BBC Introducing as a keen one to watch, the band earned a spot on BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2021, debuting their to-be-released single, ‘World Leader’.

THE SHERATONS: Leeds band The Sheratons produce a wide range of guitar based indie-rock. One of Leeds and indeed Yorkshire’s fastest growing bands, their releases have been cherished by Steve Lamacq at BBC 6.

THE SUPERLATIVES: The three-piece Yorkshire-based indie rock ‘n’ roll band are incredible live – with a passionate following and great songs, The Superlatives are sure to tear the roof off.

JONNY ASH BAND: Since the release of their ‘Blurry Vision’ EP, the Wrexham-based band have received strong support on social media. Their incredible songwriting and huge sound is perfect for a live show.

INDOOR FOXES: Featured and hailed by BBC Radio 1 and BBC Scotland, Indoor Foxes is an artist from the heart of Edinburgh. She mixes retro synths with modern beats to make her unique but funky sound. Her release ‘Peach Stone’ featured on national radio, with her Scottish accent coming through electric guitars and synths.

JESS KEMP: Dubbed the ‘Female Ed Sheeran’, Jess Kemp was a nominee for ‘Best Unsigned Female’ in the Best of British Unsigned Music Awards. Jess’s music is a well-known token of the Manchester emerging music scene and her acoustic driven, heartfelt and catchy songs make her one not to be missed when performing live.

AUDIOTOWN: This new band amazed listeners with their debut single ‘Until The End’, an epic, guitar swept anthem that secured them a slot on the bill before anyone else. Their follow up single, ‘Fever’, reveals a more bass heavy, hard rock side to Audiotown, who are one of the hottest prospects on the Scottish music scene.

Indie Rocks! Radio DJ PAUL HOLMES will also be in the house playing non-stop indie anthems in-between sets.
