Over £2000 raised at charity sporting dinner

Over £2000 was raised for people with visual and hearing impairments at a charity sporting dinner organised by Yorkshire-based financial advisers Navigation Wealth Management.

Navigation Wealth’s CEO Matt Hammond and Football Legend Chris Waddle with the team and ambassadors from Wilberforce Trust

The event, held on the eve of the FIFA World Cup in support of the Wilberforce Trust, saw former footballing legend Chris Waddle as guest speaker.  A raffle and silent auction raised £1750 on the night itself, added to another £500 already donated, netting a total of £2250.

Matt Hammond, Chief Executive at Navigation Wealth, which has offices in Beverley and Wakefield, said:

“It was a fantastic night and I want to thank everyone who attended and gave so generously.  We had aimed to raise at least £2000 and we went over our target, so that was brilliant!  We were delighted that former England and Premier League footballer, Chris Waddle, agreed to come along to help us raise money for such a worthy cause.  He had some great stories to tell about his incredible career, (including THAT penalty!) and took questions from our guests.  Perfect timing as the World Cup tournament kicks off this week.”

Wilberforce Trust Operations Director, Samantha Scholey-Dyson, said:

“We are so thankful to Navigation Wealth Management for choosing us as their charity for this wonderful event.  Support from local businesses is vital to us, particularly as demand for our services is growing across Yorkshire.  The evening was simply fantastic.”

The dinner took place at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel, Bennethorpe, Doncaster,
