Presented by Dance Consortium, Hull New Theatre and Freedom Festival Arts Trust, the jaw-dropping show Passagers will roll-up on Tuesday 28 September with an unforgettable experience that celebrates connections and adventures, weaving together circus skills, music, movement and storytelling in a magnificent visual spectacle.

The production follows a colourful and diverse group of strangers who meet on board a train. Through the course of their journey, in a temporarily suspended reality, they get to know each other, sharing their stories and revealing their emotional states through breath-taking acrobatics – vaulting somersaults, thrilling trapeze, and dare-devil balances on the high-wire, along with contemporary dance, narrative, song and original music.

Created in 2018, prior to the global pandemic, Passagers shines a spotlight on our fascination with travel, and though the company of nine have had to wait for their adventure, the show will now premiere in the UK, visiting six cities (including Hull)  before heading on to France and Switzerland.

Shana Carroll, 7 Fingers’ co-artistic director, says: “It is scary to dedicate months of your life to something, feeling we’re on such fragile ground. But, on the other hand, everyone’s so excited to have an audience again and go back to doing what we do. And to travelling! Of course, there have been pros and cons to the year we’ve just had but I think there’s this notion that if we can finally leave our country or our city or our continent, maybe life can continue to move forward.”

Coming out of Canada, the home of the modern circus, The 7 Fingers are one of the world’s most exciting and inventive contemporary circus companies, many of whom have worked with the world-renowned Cirque de Soleil.

The production is the final performance of this year’s Freedom Festival, which has seen a plethora of magical events across the city including art, music, spoken word, plus live and online shows ensuring the culture reaches across the globe.

Its much anticipated arrival in the UK is brought to Hull New Theatre by Dance Consortium, an 18-strong group of large-scale theatres who are committed to touring the very best of international dance throughout the country.

The 7 Fingers was set up in 2002 with a mission to redefine circus and rapidly gained international recognition for its thrilling shows combining choreography and dance with physical theatre, multimedia and music.

This award-winning trailblazing company thrills with creativity and deserves to be experienced live.

Passagers is at Hull New Theatre on Tuesday 28 September as part of Freedom Festival. Tickets are on sale now at hulltheatres.co.uk or you can book by calling 01482 300 306.
