Back to Ours and The Herd are proud to announce a creative partnership, bringing together two organisations passionate about engaging new audiences.

It started when SLIME, The Herd’s popular show for under 5’s, formed part of the October Back to Ours Festival in 2018, followed by co-created pre-show The Gardeners which accompanied Slime on a regional tour in 2019.

Louise Yates, Back to Ours Director, says: “We’re really excited about this new collaboration.

“Back to Ours will host monthly creative planning meetings and reflective sessions supporting the development of The Herd’s new work, and we’re excited to provide guidance around engagement and evaluation techniques that will influence their creative process.

“The Herd are really innovative around their work to find and engage new audiences, which speaks to the very core of what Back to Ours is about.”

Ruby Thompson, co-founder and director of The Herd, said: “We’re hyped to become an Associate Company of Back to Ours!

“Since 2017 they’ve been producing incredible experiences for the people of Hull and we’ve been wowed and entertained as audience members. We were thrilled to start working with them in 2018 as we share a passion for making great live entertainment for the families of Hull.

“Our next project takes that a step further and we can’t wait to bring you a funny, brand new dino-filled show.”

The next show co-produced by The Herd and Back to Ours will be The Last Dinosaur, aimed at children aged 3-6.

Asking children to get involved in the making of the show, The Herd are producing downloadable online dinosaur activity packs on their website – theherdtheatre.co.uk – from Monday 27 April, with a new activity every week.

The work of children taking part will form the direction of the show.

The Herd will also be taking over the Back to Ours Facebook page on Thursday 23 April sharing past work, news and behind-the-scenes snippets. This will culminate in a bedtime story at 6pm to celebrate the launch of DINOSAUR PROJECT and World Book Night.
