Louder Than War founder and post-punk icon John Robb is set to appear at Pocklington Arts Centre on 28th May 2026.

Raised in Blackpool, Robb found salvation in punk rock and went on to form The Membranes, a highly influential post-punk band whose current critically eulogised albums keep pushing forward with added choirs and textures.
He made his mark as one of the leading post-punk fanzine writers with Rox, before moving on to write for the rock press with Sounds in the 1980s. A key figure in the industry, he went on to conduct the first Nirvana interview, coined the expression ‘Britpop’, and was instrumental in documenting the ‘Madchester’ scene with his writing.
A man of many talents, Robb is a best-selling author, musician, journalist, broadcaster, and eco champion. When not touring his spoken word shows, he’s developing the ground-breaking Green Britain Academy education scheme and a zero carbon clothing line called ‘Dark Forest’.
His fascinating memoirs are set to be published as a book in 2026, a release that’s sure to take its place at the top of the charts alongside his recent successes, including Live Forever: The Rise, Fall and Resurrection of Oasis, The Art of Darkness – The History of Goth, The Stone Roses and the Resurrection of British Pop, and Manifesto (2022), co-authored with Ecotricity’s green energy pioneer Dale Vince.
Today, his influential website LouderThanWar.com stands as one of the UK’s leading independent music and culture platforms, celebrated for championing new artists such as Fontaines D.C. and Charli XCX before anyone else.
Don’t miss an evening with one of British music’s most insightful voices. Tickets are on sale now at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk.
