Rapid routes to qualification through blended learning

A First Aid course at Pathways Training

Now based in the innovative K2 Tower on Bond Street, Pathways Training has extended its offer of short vocational training courses from, helping people to gain the knowledge and qualifications they need to start or develop a fulfilling career.

The company was established in April 2016 by Kevin Carrick, who had previously been working at a national charity, developing its commercial training programme.

“At the beginning we just ran a couple of courses in Health and Safety and First Aid,” says Kevin. “We didn’t have a dedicated training room or our own trainers, which is a far cry from what we offer to learners today.”

With two training rooms that host multiple courses on a daily basis, Pathways Training has become a go-to supplier of high-quality, accredited training programmes. First Aid is still a very popular option, plus there are courses available in Licencing, Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, Environmental Principles, Social Media Management and much more.

The success of Pathways Training is down to numerous factors, not least its provision of blended learning. This is a modern method of gaining a full qualification that takes half the time of a more traditional classroom-based course. The learner can study the content through approved video resources either at Pathways Training or remotely, making it highly flexible.

A blended learning course still offers the support of a fully qualified tutor and you take an invigilated exam at K2 Tower following completion of the training. Yet due to its structure, it’s much easier to fit into a busy schedule, minimises the need to travel, and can also save money in the process.

“Prior to our move we could only train eight people per day,” Kevin explains. “We now have capacity for 28 learners in our training suites, with many more studying from the comfort of their own home via blended learning.”

As well as helping individuals to enhance their careers, Pathways Training has worked with businesses such as Sapphire Signs, PBS Construction and B Batch Group to train their staff to a higher calibre. With many industry specialisms changing each year, Kevin ensures that companies of all shapes and sizes are on the same page when it comes to regulations and compliance.

“Accredited training is so important to any business,” he adds. “Whilst it means that daily operations run smoothly and in line with legal guidelines, it can also help to reduce employee sickness and improve wellbeing as a result of safe, hygienic and efficient working practices.”

Kevin is also very grateful to the team at K2 Bond Street, as they have accommodated all of his needs from the very beginning. Starting with an 8-space training facility and now able to welcome more than three times as many learners at a time, the growth of the company would not have been possible without this valued support, he explains.

“Our blended learning provision is taking leaps and bounds thanks to this expansion. You can study a course at your own pace and sit the exam when you are ready. We encourage anyone who wants to improve their employability levels to get in touch.”

You can find Pathways Training on floor 1 of K2 Tower on Bond Street in Hull city centre. To find out more, email info@ptsy.co.uk or call Kevin on 01482 947245.
