Register now for free tickets to the one of the region’s biggest construction trade events

Anyone working in construction and engineering can now register for free tickets for Foundations Live 2022, which is one of the region’s biggest construction, trade, networking, and careers events.

The event, which takes place at Bishop Burton College in East Yorkshire on Thursday 20 October, offers the opportunity to meet and network with a vast range of contractors, subcontractors and suppliers across the construction and engineering industries. More than 70 exhibitors will also be showcasing their services, products, and training and employment opportunities.

Hobson & Porter, the event’s main organiser, will be joined by the likes of Beal Homes, Vinci Construction, Keepmoat, Balfour Beatty, Spencer Group, Jewson, Dulux, British Gypsum, Plasmor, and CITB.

David Blades, SHEQ director at Hobson & Porter, said: “Foundations Live offers anyone working in construction the opportunity to meet and network with the construction supply chain, meet buyers, find out about new products and new projects on the horizon. All the latest industry trends will be showcased, with a focus on sustainability and technology.

“The event provides businesses with the chance to discuss training and development possibilities with numerous training providers to develop their own talent and is also a great way for construction and engineering businesses to learn about the various grants available to them, covering technology investments, recruitment, training, and apprenticeships.

“Foundations Live is the best place in the region for anyone working in construction and engineering to make worthwhile connections.”

Builders merchant, Jewson, has partnered and exhibited at Foundations Live every year since its inception. Ken Wilson from Jewson said: “Foundations Live brings the industry together under one roof and focuses on inspiring the next generation of talent. It is a hugely beneficial event to attend, as we not only help young people understand more about their career options, but also network with industry peers, meet clients and consultants as well as display the diversity of what our business and industry has to offer.”

In addition to trade and networking opportunities, Foundations Live also addresses the construction industry’s skill shortage. The event’s interactive careers element, which runs in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) appeals to people of all ages from primary school pupils to adults interested in retraining.

Schools, colleges, and training providers, from across the region, will be attending Foundations Live, along with their students who want to find out about the diverse career opportunities on offer in construction.

This year, representatives from Talentview Construction will also be on hand to help people find first jobs, apprenticeships, and work experience opportunities, specifically in construction. Funded by the CITB and supported by Government, Talentview Construction is an online platform for young people to show their skills and experience to employers actively recruiting for early-careers positions.

TV host Mark Millar will also return to the event as Foundations Ambassador. Mark is an experienced project manager who runs a successful building firm in Bristol, and is the presenter of Channel 5’s primetime series Dream Kitchens And Bathrooms With Mark Millar as well as being one of the most recognised faces on BBC One’s DIY SOS. Mark is passionate about developing the talent of the future and promoting the construction industry as a career to the next generation.

David added: “The event launched in 2016, but this will be the first time we have had the opportunity to bring the industry back together following the pandemic, and as a result it will be bigger and better than ever. We have more than 70 exhibitors signed up and will have hundreds of people attending on the day. It is completely free to attend, and anyone interested needs to register now to secure their tickets.”

Foundations Live takes place on the 20 October, from 10.30am to 2pm, and will be held in the indoor arena at the Bishop Burton campus near Beverley.
