Sponsor a seat in Middle Child’s new theatre

Middle Child are inviting people and businesses to sponsor a seat in their new studio theatre at 69 Humber Street in Hull.

Their Part of the Furniture campaign aims to raise money to support Middle Child in their ambitions to open the most influential new writing theatre outside London.

Individuals can sponsor a seat for £200 and businesses for £500, with a dedication plaque remaining in place for three years from May 2026.

Paul Smith, artistic director and CEO of Middle Child, said: “Part of this campaign is to raise funds to help us keep improving this new venue to make it a great place to watch theatre, but we also want to fill the space with the names of people who believe in what we do.

“People who want to see Hull buzzing with messy, bold, passionate new work. People who have seen time and time again what this city is capable of when people believe in it.”

Middle Child are in the process of turning a former hair and beauty salon at 69 Humber Street into a studio theatre, with the support of Wykeland, Resolve, Hull City Council, Invest Hull, DCMS and Equity Charitable Trust.

The new venue will open in May 2026 with a production of Isabelle by Marc Graham, a new play which debuted at Fresh Ink: Hull Playwriting Festival 2024.
