A lively line-up awaits audiences this Spring as Hull Truck Theatre showcases a rich variety of outrageous comedians and inspirational dramas! Plus, there will be true crime, film, musical re-imaginings and imaginative family shows that will make for the perfect Easter half term entertainment.

Start your Spring with a good night out and plenty of laughs. Comedian, Kevin Precious returns once again to host Hull Truck Theatre’s Comedy Graduate showcase (Tuesday 3 March), where graduates of the 2026 stand-up comedy course will embark on sharing their first pre-prepared 5-minute sets to a live audience.
Kevin Precious, Course Facilitator and Stand-Up comedian, said: “The comedy course has once more proved that there is no shortage of talent in Hull and the surrounding areas when it comes to the business of making us laugh.”
Kevin also returns with his own comedy show later in the week. The Reluctant Teacher (Thursday 5 March) is an exploration of Kevin’s past life as a teacher! He enjoyed the teaching part; it was the stuff that goes with it that was a drag. So, he left. “If you’ve ever worked as a teacher, it feels like a show that would be satisfying in the extreme” – Chortle.
Best Known for appearing on TV shows such as Benidorm and I’m A Celebrity, get ready to celebrate Crissy Rock and her brand-new show: An Evening With Crissy Rock (Wednesday 4 March). Andy Zaltzman: The Zaltgeist (Saturday 7 March), the universe’s leading and only 2-in-1 political-comedian-and-professional-cricket-statistician, will combine 21st-century witchcraft of A.I. with his live audience. Sara Pascoe: I Am A Strange Gloop (Thursday 26 March) brings one of the most likeable voices in stand-up to Hull. And…there is more! The laughter continues with another unmissable night at Chuckl.Hull with Russell Kane (Saturday 14 March). Expect quick fire wit, razor-sharp observations and a stellar supporting lineup of top club comedians.
Whatever you’re marking this March, from Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day to Single Parents Day or World Theatre Day, Hull Truck Theatre have the perfect night out waiting for you. For drama lovers, and available as part of Hull Truck Theatre’s Drama Deal, enjoy The Grand Babylon Hotel (Tuesday 10 – Friday 13 March) – a rollicking comedy thriller, with a cast of five who will bring many faces, chases, glamour and intrigue.

The Makings of a Murderer – The Undercover Detective (Friday 27 March) is another chance to join Peter Bleksley, founding member of Scotland Yard’s undercover unit and former star of Channel 4’s Hunted for an unforgettable evening behind solving the murders and battling the criminal underworld. If it’s more drama that you’re seeking, you’ll enjoy Glitch – The True Story of the Post Office Scandal (Tuesday 17 – Wednesday 18 March). Telling the fascinating story and one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in English legal history, Rabble Theatre presents an inspirational true story, based on the experiences of Post Mistress Pam and her colleagues. “Glitch is a powerful response to a national disgrace. First Class.” – Dominic Cavendish, The Daily Telegraph.
Featuring brand new arrangements of hit songs, In The Air Tonight (Friday 6 – Saturday 7 March) is a brand-new jukebox musical. Come and meet some of the regulars of the ‘Victoria Inn’ the place to pour your heart out. Pied Piper (Tuesday 24 – Wednesday 25 March) is a raucous re-imagining of a medieval fairy-tale. This is a family-friendly musical production, featuring a hugely talented cast of beatboxers, musicians and vocal wizardry with special appearances from members of the local community. Recommended for ages 6+.
Hull Truck Theatre also has some fantastic family favourites for children of ages 3+, starting with The Gruffalo’s Child (Friday 20 – Saturday 21 March). Follow the Gruffalo’s Child on her adventurous mission in Tall Stories’ enchanting adaptation of the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Start your school holidays with A Great Easter Adventure (Saturday 28 – Tuesday 31 March) and join in the fun with a family arts and crafts session followed by an interactive play that uses whatever you have made. Each show lasts approximately 30 minutes and is designed for adventurers aged 3-6 years and their families.
You can show your support to Hull Truck Theatre’s Youth Theatre Groups in March with a variety of sharing’s. Local Youth Theatre will present Beyond the Fairytale (Tuesday 17 and Tuesday 24 March) where you can follow familiar fairytale characters. Hull Truck Theatre Young Company and Seniors will both perform The Ring of Choice (Friday 20 and Saturday 28 March), taking audiences to the medieval times of tyrants and swords, to the modern-day age of smartphones and social media. Finally, Hull Truck Junior Youth Theatre’s Big Small Lost Found Things (Saturday 21 March) will take you on a journey through their imagination.
Meanwhile, screening the best art and independent cinema in the Godber Studio is the Hull Screen programme, hosted on a state-of-the-art screen and sound system in partnership with Hull Independent Cinema (HIC) and Trafalgar Screening. Othello (Wednesday 4 March) is a Trafalgar Releasing screening of the Shakespeare production that explores the epic story of manipulation, jealousy and toxic masculinity. HIC will present The History of Sound (15), a journey of the shared love of folk music, and the beginning of a secret romantic relationship.
Join another First Thursday Theatre Club for Theatre History: Bertolt Brecht’s Epic Theatre (Thursday 5 March). Hull Truck Theatre’s Drama Worker, Joe Beckett will take participants and learners on a practical and discursive exploration of one of Europe’s most influential and important dramatists and directors: Bertold Brecht.
