Tech Week Humber 2020 programme has been launched this week.

On Tuesday 100 people gathered at the Bonus arena for the programme launch of Tech Week Humber 2020. It was revealed that the event will run from Monday 9th November until Friday 13th November 2020, encompassing multiple venues across the region.

The launch event was opened by David Keel, Chairman of the C4DI. David painted a picture of what the region has to offer and importance of promoting it. He then talked about legacy and the potential Tech Week Humber has to shape the future of our region.

Antonio Tombanane, founder of Tech Week Humber, then took to the stage to talk through his plans for the week. Describing the 5-day festival, Antonio explained the event’s aim is to shout about what the region has to offer and also invite the world to come and take a look for themselves.

“It was great to be able to finally share our vision with the Humber Tech community today. I see the week as a festival that really inspires everyone to engage with tech”, said Antonio.

Last year’s Tech Expo Humber was the first of its kind in the region attracting 2,000 attendees over two days and reaching a staggering 1.5 million through PR and social media. As a product of that success Tech Week Humber has been planned.

The week will kick off with a Hackathon held in partnership with the University of Hull. It will look at developing Tech 4 Good and encourage students from all facilities to engage with technology.

On Tuesday 12th November, Tech Week Humber, have teamed up with Wilberforce college to inspire young people and showcase the full potential of a career in tech. This event will be made up of exhibitors, short lectures and workshops that provide the opportunity for hands-on learning.

On Wednesday 13th November Tech Expo Humber returns to the Bonus Arena. Packed full of innovative technology the event plans to attract both local, national and international industry leaders. The day doesn’t end there as they invite all to party on into the night at the Humber Street Night Summit. Working with partners such as Wykeland and Freedom Festival the plan is to deliver a carnival of music, comedy and light.

It was announced that this year Tech Expo Humber will partner with Hull Live to deliver the Tech Awards Humber. Thursday 12th November the Humber tech community are invited to come together to celebrate both the people and the businesses who are using digital innovation to drive a positive change in the region’s economy.

The week will come to a close with a conference that asks business and educational professionals to redefine leadership. ‘Deconstructing leadership’ aims to discuss how we make technology more accessible and tackle inequality.
