Hull Theatres are set to see the return of three fantastic music events with the very best of Mod and Ska music, a Christmas shindig, and an unforgettable experience.
On 8 April 2022, Hull City Hall will host From The Jam. Led by The Jam’s original bassist Bruce Foxton, they are celebrating Sound Affects, the 5th studio album by the band, by performing it in full plus more classics by the seminal Mod group. Sound Affects reached Number 2 in the UK charts and featured two of the band’s most-loved singles, Start! and That’s Entertainment.
They will be joined by their very special guests The Selecter, whose hits include Too Much Pressure and On My Radio, led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black and co-fronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson. Pauline Black is one of very few women in the 2-Tone scene – she is often referred to as ‘The Queen of Ska’.
More sweet music will be on the way later in the year when a Fairytale of New York returns to Hull City Hall on 8 December 2022 with the ultimate feel good Irish-inspired Christmas show.
Featuring an international cast of singers, musicians and dancers, the show includes the Christmas classics Driving Home for Christmas, White Christmas, and of course The Fairytale of New York. It also includes classics from the Emerald Isle, such as The Galway Girl, The Irish Rover, and Dirty Old Town.
From a celebration of Christmas into the New Year, with the ELO Experience once again ready to fill Hull New Theatre with the immersive sound of The Electric Light Orchestra on 6 January 2023.
The Hull–based band are the world’s foremost tribute to the group, who had a succession of hits including Mr Blue Sky, Don’t Bring Me Down and Livin’ Thing.
