A festive fundraising campaign involving thousands of children across Hull and East Yorkshire has raised a record-breaking sum for Dove House Hospice.

The hospice’s annual Christmas themed events, which have become a popular fixture in the fundraising calendars of nurseries and primary schools, saw children and teachers take part in sponsored runs throughout December – all whilst wearing Christmas themed hats.
This year’s event has so far raised £72,935.76 and organisers expect the final total to exceed £75,000, making it the most successful schools based fundraiser that Dove House Hospice has ever run. In total, 66 schools took part in the initiative with 12,780 children and teachers supporting the hospice.
Dan Clipson, Senior Fundraiser at Dove House Hospice said, “We are incredibly grateful to the schools that chose to partner with the hospice at Christmas. It was fantastic to visit schools before their Tinsel Tree Trot in assemblies across the region to highlight the work of the hospice and show the impact of fundraising from school children.
“The Tinsel Tree Trot has been a huge success and will make an incredibly positive difference for the care that we can provide across the local community”.
