West End Leading Lady Sharon Sexton joins the cast of star-studded Hull pantomime

Award-winning West End star, Sharon Sexton, joins the cast of Beauty and the Beast at Hull New Theatre this Christmas.

The acclaimed actress, who made Lincolnshire her home after the pandemic, is perhaps best known for her powerhouse performances in smash hit musicals such as Bat Out of Hell, Billy Elliot, The Commitments, and A Night with Janis Joplin, will play the mystical Enchantress – the very force that sets the fairy tale’s events in motion.

Joining Sharon are, Scott Royle, also from Lincolnshire, who takes on the role of the Prince cursed to live as the Beast. Trained at Arts Educational Schools London, Scott’s stage credits span productions across the UK and internationally, including Brief Encounter, Top Hat, Annie and Disney’s Mickey and the Magician. He has also performed extensively as a lead vocalist with P&O Cruises, in Jukebox Rogues and in multiple pantomime seasons.

His arch nemesis Flash Harry is played by Cameron Vear. A graduate of Laine Theatre Arts, Cameron’s recent credits include Titanique (Théâtre du Lido, Paris), Hello, Dolly! (Théâtre du Lido, Paris), Mamma Mia! The Party (The O2) and leading roles in Aladdin and Mamma Mia! (UK and international tours). His television appearances include The National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals (BBC).

The trio join the previously announced all-star cast of Coronation Street favourite Sue Cleaver, comedy legend Paul Chuckle, the Grande Dame of Hull panto Jack Land Noble, local comedy star Jack Gleadow and rising talent Liv Newcomb.

Completing the company will be a talented ensemble of performers, Benjy, Hollie Brown, Georgina Clarke, Rosie Hall, Jahmiah Simpson, and Michele Verdicchio.

One of the most romantic pantos of all time, Beauty and the Beast, is a spectacular and enchanting production for all the family.

Dreaming of a happier life, Belle finds herself transported to a cursed castle and held captive by a terrifying beast. To her surprise, the castle is full of magical characters placed under a spell by an evil enchantress.
Can Belle see beyond the monster and fall in love with her captor before the last petal falls from the enchanted rose?

Or will the Beast’s selfishness cost him the world he once knew and the hand of the girl who has melted his heart?
